Welcome to the Wolterman Homestead

Our mission is to bring together and build a community of individuals who are enthusiastic about sharing their passions, knowledge and experiences with one another.

We’re Dylan and Meagan Wolterman. We’ve been homesteading about 7 years. We’ve definitely learned a lot over the last several years. It was an experience growing and establishing our little third of an acre property, which we sold last year.

It taught us how to raise chickens, garden, grow in a greenhouse, food preservation, water collection management and many other homestead related skills.

Now, on our new 40-acre property, we’re looking to use the skills we learned to start establishing our new homestead.

About Us

Dylan is the muscle and builder on our homestead. He is a maintenance/electrician by trade. Dylan works hard to provide for his family. Meagan often comes up with ideas and Dylan does an incredible job at bringing them to life.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time in the woods! That might be simply running the chainsaw or sitting up in a deer stand hunting. Dylan’s favorite pasted time is coon hunting.

Dylan is also the jokester in the family. He enjoys planning pranks and jokes with his kids. Dylan is a true family man.

Meagan is the heart of their home. She has been blessed to be a homemaker for the last 8-years. Meagan spends her days teaching and corralling their 3 young children.

You can often find Meagan busy cooking and baking in the kitchen. She shares her recipes with blogs and videos on their YouTube channel. If she’s not in the kitchen she might have her nose stuck in her bible studying or busy outside in the garden getting her hands dirty!

Together as a team and with God, we make up the foundation of our home. We do our best to raise our children with sound minds and compassion for others. We don’t know everything, but we enjoy inspiring and teaching others the things we’ve learned.

We want to welcome you to our platform! To remind you that homesteading requires a lot of hard work and dedication, but it is a fulfilling and rewarding experience.

Always remember that homesteading is not a one-size-fits-all lifestyle. You can tailor your homestead to meet your unique needs and preferences.

Above all, following God and where He leads you along the way. He is faithful. Blessings to you!

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26

Shalom! I had requested some time off from work to attend my first ever HOA Conference as a homestead dreamer. When I told my boss what I was doing, he said that he used to work with Dylan, so I looked you all up. I’m in Seymour in a rental townhouse, and I may never be able to have a homestead due to some circumstances beyond my control, but I still enjoy learning from others’ homesteading journey and watching others grow. May the Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua, bless you and keep you!

      Hey Joni,
Thanks for commenting and sharing about yourself. I hope you have a blast and enjoy HOA with all it has to offer. I would recommend a homesteading event in April down in Scottsburg. Dylan and I will be there teaching two poultry processing classes. Maybe you can even come out here in May to attend a foraging medicinal class we’re hosting. There will be lots to learn at both events. Nice to meet you!
